Oh, what a year it has been! Everything I’ve created was made out of pure love for creation, art and sharing stories. It was challenging, but you know what…
Believing it was an opportunity to better myself is what made me through it all.
Here are some things I’ve learned:
- Acknowledge small wins as they are milestones in the making
Baby steps and small victories, no matter how little, they all deserve recognition or even celebration.
- ASK FOR HELP WHEN YOU NEED IT!
For so many years I’ve viewed asking for help as a shameful act, as something that should be avoided until it was the last resort. This year I was proven wrong by all the people that helped me when I collected the courage to ask.
- Be prepared for rejection
As an artist, there comes a time to apply to competitions, grants, or send out emails offering your services. Coming to terms that rejection will be a big part of it all is actually a way to make it easier for yourself, because after 10, 100, 1000 no’s, there will come a YES!
- Everything in life comes in seasons
This means that priorities can shift through months or even weeks and that it’s fine, it is not something to stress about.
Some creative milestones of the year:
- Launched this website
- Got to make an image for the cover of a book of poetry written by my dear friend
- Exhibited my art in a gallery art fair for the first time
After so many denied applications for exhibitions and competitions, this gallery found value in my art, and they wanted to exhibit it. Proudest moment from this year!

- Co-organized a humanitarian art festival, and also had my work exhibited and sold to collect money for homeless children and young people in Serbia

Some other personal milestones:
- Bought a bike and traveled within Serbia
A dream come true! This bike also serves me as my go-to vehicle for shooting images outdoors.
- Ran a 5km race
My first year running and first race ever!
Finally, I say goodbye to this amazing, rough, rewarding, eye-opening year.
